Te Puawaitanga ki Ōtautahi Trust marked Te Rā Mokopuna (7 June 2024) in Kaikoura with our colleagues and whānau from Te Tai o Marokura by hosting a Wahakura Wānanga.

The Wahakura Wānanga supported Te Tai o Marokura kaimahi, midwifery tauira and whānau to learn this kaupapa and will help build the connection to whānau and pēpi though the making and use of muka (pito cord ties) in their region.

Ngā mihi to our kaimahi who supported this kaupapa by harvesting harakeke or providing tautoko at the wānanga.

Every pēpi is our taonga. If you are working with whānau with Māori pēpi that need safe sleep support, please engage with the team who can support PEPE safe sleep messaging, SUDI education to kaimahi or access to a wahakura.
