Quest Manihera and Kaiwhakahaere Sarah Wills
Quest Manihera, kaiwhakapuawai / stage 1 vaccinating health worker (VHW) vaccinator at Te Puawaitanga, is working towards her stage 2 qualification as a vaccinating health worker.
Quest started with Te Puawaitanga at the Māui Clinic overseeing all aspects of manaakitanga for our client whānau during the covid-19 pandemic. “We were helping whānau who had anxiety themselves, so part of the role was to create a welcoming, home-like environment.”
It was after the clinic closed, that the team saw a gap in health kaimahi. Immunisation Advisory Centre offered this course, and it seemed like the logical next step. “As a team we support each other,” said Quest. “It was a big task. There was a lot of hands on mahi.”
Having the qualification relieves the pressure on her team, and having the clinical knowledge behind what she does is good for whānau. Quest hopes to be qualified as a stage 2 VHW by the end of the September.
Congratulations and thank you for your mahi, Quest.
