Jaimee Thomas, a kaiwhakapuawai at Te Puawaitanga was recognised for her master’s dissertation work at the University of Otago, Christchurch Campus where she was studying in the department of Population Health.
Her project, ‘Access to Active Transportation and Self-Perceived Mental Health in Christchurch,’ was noted as ‘Highly Commended’ by the Richard Kammann Wellbeing prize. The prize has been awarded to University Otago students researching topics that improve wellbeing since 1986.
Her innovative quantitative methods were noted, and her project was viewed as highly applicable, not only in Christchurch but within Aotearoa more widely.
Jaimee completed her Master’s study in Paenga-whāwhā and she has recently taken up a new role with the Tamariki Ora Well Child Team at the Trust.
