What is a Breastfeeding Friendly Early Childhood Centre?

The Canterbury Breastfeeding Advocacy Services fully supports and encourages breast/chestfeeding through all of life’s seasons. This kaupapa allows for you to be reassured that the Early Childhood Centre you choose is willing and able to support breast/chestfeeding.

The centres below have committed to supporting breast/chestfeeding whānau and tamariki in their space. This means that if you enrol in one of these centres, you will be able to breast/chestfeed your pēpi, express breast milk, and know that this will be handled and prepared correctly by centre staff, for your tamariki. The centre will have a policy that protects your right to feed your pēpi, and all kaimahi will have appropriate training on why breast milk is awesome!
